Security Analyst Alejandro Hope comments on several key factors for the 2018 presidential elections, including a rising homicide rate since Joaquin ‘el Chapo’ Guzman’s extradition to the US, the emergence of violent criminal organizations newly formed in his absence, and the possible repercussions of changes to US policy on violent crime during upcoming elections in both countries.  Hope is a former member of CISEN, Mexico’s national intelligence and security agency.
